Isabella Walton Childcare Centre
This project was particularly important to me because I believe that inclusive and appropriate cultural representation is essential to everyone's lives, especially when living in such a diverse city. These dolls were bought however, no one had any idea which country or culture they represented. Thus, I took it upon myself to match the dolls' clothing and ethnicity to their language, labeling the puppets with "Hello" and "Goodbye" phrases in their proper characters.
Out of plaster from the dollar store, I made a scavenger hunt for the children to find different bones/ body parts of different dinosaurs. I provided them small tools to use for the paleontologists that they were!
Out of recycled materials, the children and I created our own banjos and maracas to sing and dance along with!
